Abstract: | Flow situation where both free and forced convection effects are of comparable order is called mixed convection. The study of such a mixed convection flow finds application in several industrial and technical processes such as nuclear reactors cooled during emergency shutdown; central receivers exposed to winds, electronic devices cooled by fans and heat exchangers placed in a low velocity environment. Study of fluid flow using mixed convection heat transfer, using double diffusive mixed convection heat and mass transfer in fluid saturated porous media finds application in a variety of engineering processes like petroleum reservoirs, chemical catalytic reactors and processes, geothermal energy extractions, in medicine, science and technology like blood flow in a tube, tidal waves, wind power geothermal reservoirs, drying of porous solids, thermal insulation, enhanced oil recovery, packed-bed catalytic reactors, cooling of nuclear reactors and underground energy transport are few applications to mention. Because of these wide applications and of more importance, the study of double diffusive mixed convection over an accelerating surface through a saturated porous medium with two or more variable fluid properties by considering heat and mass transfer for different domains under different boundary conditions are investigated in the present thesis. newline |
