Abstract: The most critically important component for productivity, standard of living, newlineprosperity, economic development and strength of the nation is electrical power. Hence the newlinerequirement of power has been increasing day by day but the power generation capacity has newlinenot been able to meet the demand created due to electrical power shortage. This is mainly due newlineto shortfall of conventional sources required for power generation, transmission and newlinedistribution losses, improper utilization of power, power theft or pilferage, low usage of newlinerenewable energy sources, increase in the population and standard of living etc. Energy is one newlineof the key elements of a developed country. Energy is becoming scarce nowadays and is one newlineof the most sought after commodities. The capacity of energy generation cannot be increased newlinequickly but the available energy can be utilized in a judicious manner. Electrical energy is newlineinvisible; hence it is often wasted or made theft without being noticed. newlineElectricity can be controlled easily and the most versatile form of energy. It is the most newlineclean and non polluting form of energy. Electrical energy is the most superior and convenient newlineform of energy, as it can be easily converted into different forms of energy. It can be easily newlinetransported from one place to another with the help of conductors. Electrical energy is used as newlinea substitute for fuel and it has been replaced in many applications. Electricity facilitates newlinetechnological advancement and enhances the quality of life. Availability of energy, energy newlineconsumption efficiency and reduction in network losses are the indicators for a modern and newlinedeveloped country. Advanced and developed countries have to strive and sustain their growth newlineand energy efficiency. newlineThe power shortage could be tackled by undertaking the performance analysis of the newlineelectrical installations and improving their energy efficiency and also adopting energy newlineconservation techniques. However it necessitates planning the use of electric power in the most newlinejudicious way such that the energy usage as well as its wastage is minimized. For this, an newlineeffective scientific methodology and a tool like Energy Audit need to be adopted. newline
