Abstract: | . Structured adstract: newlineAim: newlineThe aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and repeatability of newlineshade matching by conventional and digital methods. newlineMaterials and Methods: newlineStudy was conducted at the Department of Implantology. The study newlinesample included 35 volunteers (17male and 18 female) aged between 20 newlineand 40 years with a sound right maxillary central incisor. Four groups newlinewere categorized: Spectrophotometer (Vita Easy shade Advanced V), newlineDigital Imaging (3 Shape), Digital Photography, Direct Vision (two newlineobservers). Each subject was examined thrice to check the repeatability. newlineCohen s kappa and Pearson correlation R was done to measure the newlineagreement of shade matching. Interobserver and intra-observer reliability newlinetests were done to measure the reliability between observers and within newlineobservers at different times. newlineResults: newlineThe results showed significant good agreement of newlinespectrophotometry and 3Shape with a kappa coefficient and correlation newlinecoefficient of 0.852 and 0.960. Similarly, there was significant good newlineagreement between spectrophotometer and digital photography with a newlinekappa coefficient and correlation coefficient of 0.816 and 0.865. newlineX newlineThe z value on comparison of digital photography and direct vision newlinewas 8.586 with a p value of 0.000. Similarly, the z value on comparison newlineof direct vision and 3Shape was 8.505 with a p value of 0.000. These newlineresults showed a statistically significant higher proportion of yes newlineagreement. newlineConclusion: newlineWithin the limitations of the study, it can be concluded that tooth newlineshade matching was significantly better while using digital scanners as newlineopposed to other methods. Taking the economics and affordability into newlineconsideration, digital photography when done with optimal settings can newlinealso provide quite accurate shade matching newline |
