dc.description.abstractnewline Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are specifically designed and extensively used for newlineobserving physical or environmental conditions. The observed data is collectively newlinetransmitted to the destination. These networks have proved to be very efficient. Still, newlinethe criticality of the use of these systems lies in the lifetime of the networks, energy newlineconsumption, and a synchronized manner of transmission. To overcome these criticalities newlineand increase durability of the network, a hierarchical routing protocol is proposed, which newlineeffectively increases the overall efficiency of the WSN performance. newlineIn this research work, the main focus is on developing an Energy-Efficient newlineHierarchical routing method for Data Aggregation and Time Synchronization in WSNs. newlineA Routing protocol is proposed to prevail over drawbacks like high delay and more energy newlineconsumption in the existing protocols. The primary goal is to minimize communications newlinewith the BS and reduce intra-cluster transmission to extend the lifetime of WSN. The newlinepresent research proposes a hybrid approach that addresses all three metrics required newlineto increase the performance of WSN, i.e., energy consumption, time synchronization, newlineand durability of the network. The proposed scheme uses a centrality-based cluster newlineselection, gateway nodes, hybrid time synchronization and LSH based data aggregation newlinetechnique to reduce energy consumption during transmission to farther base stations newline(BS). To prove the efficiency of the proposed work, a comparative analysis with the newlineexisting classical approach was carried out for evaluating different performance metrics. newlineThe proposed EEHDT (Energy Efficient Hierarchical scheme for Data aggregation and newlineTime Synchronization) algorithm has significant improvement over the classical routing newlineprotocols considered in terms of the durability of the network. This EEHDT effectively newlinedecreases the energy consumed by the network during transmission using an efficient newlinedata aggregation technique, synchronizes the transmissions quickly, thereby enhancing newlinethe WSN s performance. This, in turn, increases the throughput and decreases the delay newlineleading to a high durability of the network. The hybrid approach also proves to outperform newlinethe traditional techniques when compared to performance metrics like delay, throughput, newlinetotal dead nodes, energy consumed by the network, and data packets sent.
