Abstract: Background: Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a disorder of movement and posture that appears during infancy or early childhood resulting from damage to the brain. The damage to the brain is permanent and cannot be cured. But with earlier identification and start with intervention the more improvement can be made. Aims of the Study: 1. To assess the QOL of children with CP in both urban and rural spastic societies. 2. To improve the QOL of CP children with non-academic interventions. 3. To find out the effectiveness of interventions in improving QOL of CP children. Methods: The research design adopted for the study is True Experimental design. The study was conducted in the Urban Trichy Spastic Society) and Rural Spastic Societies (Manaparai, Musiri, Lalgudi and Thuraiyur) of Trichy district in South Tamilnadu. Children with CP, between ages of 9-14 years who were attending Spastic Society were the sample of the study. The sample size was made using power analysis and is 129. Proportionate stratified random sampling method was used to select samples. Results: QOL in CP children had shown improvement in Urban and Rural Spastic Societies after the delivery of Interventional package. In Trichy Spastic Society, 27 (79.4%) were in moderate QOL, 7(20.6%) were in Good QOL after the delivery of Interventional package. Video, play and social control group CP children remained in poor QOL 34 (100%). Conclusion: The QOL of CP children can be improved with several modalities. One such trial with non academic interventions is the present study. To arrive at the conclusion of a complicated study like this, with differently abled children is a real challenge. To bring out the nature of CP child, the tool that was classically used was CPQOL and it has an International Acceptance . Emancipatory Tool being a social platform and a virtual eco system brought out the deeper truths of CP children. The three key components in the interventions are successfully able to bring out what is expected of a research work.
