Abstract: In recent days, the performance measurement of the player newlineplays a major role in guiding the trainers for improving the skills of the newlineplayers. Marker based method used at present does not yield better newlineresult as this involves various inconvenience to the players and this newlineaffects the accuracy of measurement. Thus, this research focuses on newlineperformance measurement of Volleyball players from video frames. newlineThis work use Object Detection and Tracking as a methodology prior to newlinethe measuring of performance of the players. Object Detection and newlineTracking has been a great challenge over the years. The reason behind is newlinethat, it is applicable for numerous real time applications like vision newlinebased control, traffic control, video surveillance, sports analysis, etc. newlineBut, object detection and tracking in a video sequence are highly newlinechallenging tasks which were not been over come in many researches. newlineThis reason brings the object detection and tracking to be a thrust newlineresearch area in the field of image processing. newlineThe proposed research described three different modules such newlineas detection of player, tracking of player and performance measurement newlineof the player. As per the survey carried out, it is found that the newlineconventional algorithms for object tracking cannot yield better results in newlinethe above challenges. So the research uses the detection and tracking of newlineplayer using Metaheuristic algorithms which have fewer computations newlineand also yields optimum result etc. newlineThe first and second module focuses on the detection and newlinetracking of players from the video frames using Metaheuristic newlineix newlinealgorithm. Different Metaheuristic algorithms are taken to detect and newlinetrack the players from video frames. These algorithms are evaluated newlineusing various parameters. A modified Grey Wolf Optimization newlinealgorithm was proposed to obtain better detection and tracking result. newlineThe results showed that Modified Grey Wolf Optimization algorithm newlinecan outperform well with respect to the parameter measured. newlineThe final stage is the measurement of the performance of the newlineplayer.
