Abstract: | In today s competitive environment, the employees are considered the real newlineproperty of any organization. The determination of the employees towards their newlinejob can lead to an increase in the level of performance of the organization. newlineOrganizations have now amended their Human Resource practices to make a newlineperfect synergy of work and fun for optimum performance and fruitful results. newlineExplosive growth and expansion have been witnessed in the banking sector as it is newlinethe key service sector in the country. State bank of India is one of the oldest and newlinemost trusted public sector banks in the country which has witnessed a large newlineexpansion during the last decade. Rising incomes of customers enhanced the need newlinefor banking services. newlineThe importance of employees in any organization has drawn scientific interest in newlinetheir positive psychological state of mind and as such the concept of employee newlineengagement is gaining importance. Researchers believe that Employee newlineEngagement does not have a universal definition. This study is focused on the newlineconstruct of employee engagement as drawn from the existing literature and its newlineeffect on employee performance. newlineThe constructs of employee engagement and employee performance were newlineidentified through the literature review. The relationship of dimensions of newlineemployee engagement with employee performance was established through newlineexisting literature. The engagement and performance scale for the research newlineinstrument was adopted from the existing literature. The study is exploratory newlineduring the initial stages where the drivers of employee engagement for the newlineselected bank were face validated through in-depth observational interviews with newlinethe experts in the field. The dimensions of engagement and performance were newlinetested for reliability and validity. The study is descriptive during the later stages newlinewhere it describes the effect of drivers of employee engagement on employee newlineperformance. newlineThe study has been conducted after the merger of five associates of the State bank newlineof India on 1st April 2017 and so this research is |
