Abstract: The Surgical treatment of fractures of the distal tibia poses a true challenge to newlinethe Orthopaedic Surgeon because of the paucity of soft tissue, their subcutaneous newlinelocation and poor vascularity. The complications related to treatment are also high. newlineThe fixation options are many. Recently, the locking plate has become a surgeon newlinefriendly implant in the treatment of complex fractures of the distal part of the newlinetibia. Locking plates have the properties of both internal and external fixators newlineand offer fixed angular stability through the head of locking screws. All fractures united within 6 months of time. There was no cases of malunion newlineor non union. All fractures healed with satisfactory alignment. There were 3 newlinepostoperative complications. At 12 months followup, we had 17 excellent, 7 good newlineand 2 fair results The limitations in this study , small sample size and a short followup newlineof one year.In conclusion, with correct timing of surgery( Wrinkle sign), correct surgical newlinetechnique and reduction of fracture with image intensifier, anatomically pre newlinecontoured mono axial fixed angle locking plates and locking screws, is a suitable newlineoption for distal tibial fractures. It has better functional outcome and has faster newlinehealing rates. The complications of wound infection is less newline
