Abstract: Abstract newlineElectrical motors are used in many applications like industrial, residential or commercial newlineapplications. Conventional motors like induction motors or brushed-dc motors are newlineused in applications such as refrigerators, fans, air conditioning systems etc. These motors newlineare having low efficiency and high maintenance. Conventional motors can be replaced newlineby higher efficiency, low maintenance and higher cost permanent magnet brushless newlineDC motor (PM BLDC). Also, due to disadvantages such as pollution, noise issue newlineand over dependency on petrol/diesel of conventional IC engine based vehicle, Electric newlineVehicles (EV) are gaining popularity. In most of the EVs the PM BLDC motors are newlinethe most preferred motor for its propulsion system. In a profit driven market, industries newlineare reluctant to replace conventional motors with advance motor drive (PM BLDC) due newlineto there higher cost. Replacing these motor with more efficient motor will save a lot newlineof energy. Therefore, all these applications requires an effective controller to drive the newlineelectric motor. This thesis proposes some techniques for the advance control of PM newlineBLDC motor. newlineAt first, all control techniques available in literature for the control of PM BLDC motor newlineare studied and found that recently stationary reference frame representation of PM newlineBLDC motor gives advantages like simple and flexible control of PM BLDC motor newlinedrive over conventional natural reference frame control. For the design of control for newlinePM BLDC motor, its parameter has been estimated and conventional control has been newlineapplied to the motor. PI control of PM BLDC motor in stationary reference frame is newlinefeasible and proposed in the thesis with analysis and verified results. newlineAdvance control technique like predictive control technique is gaining lot of popularity newlinein the control of electric motors due to its advantages such as fast transient response and newlineix newlinex newlineaccurate tracking of the reference quantity with digital control applicability. The twovector newlinemodel predictive control (MPC) is implemented in stationary re
