Abstract: | ABSTRACT newlineIntroduction: Carcinoma is a group of illnesses, it can affect any tissues and organs, and distributed throughout the body when cells grow uncontrolled which can migrate to other organs.Cancer has become more prevalent throughout the world, putting an extreme physical, emotional, and financial strain on individuals, families, communities, and healthcare systems. MaterialandMethods: A mixed-method study investigated the effectiveness of a Nurse-Led Cancer Survivorship programme on selected Bio- Psycho Social parameters and health-related experiences among breast cancer survivors. Participants aged gt21 years and above, conscious, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and follow-up services and able to talk, read English, Tamil wereadded. Results: The effectiveness of the NLCSP was determined to be 33.22 % effective on pain reduction, 16.55 % effective on stress reduction, 20.38 % effective on anxiety and depression reduction, 20.24 % effective on body image disturbance reduction score, and 18.39 % effective on well-being enhancement.The thematic content analysis revealed that the participants were terrified upon learning about the disease, especially since they were the first members of their family to contract it. They frequently shed tears during the interview as they recalled the disease and treatment process. They feared receiving differing treatment, which could take the form of pity, inferiority, disgust etc and to having been subjected to this stigma, was a major factor in their diminishing social life as they became increasingly housebound.Discussion:This study described how the empowered experiences of breast cancer survivors and narratives about the disease and how to live with and manage their illness. newline |
