Abstract: | Scarcity of water is an emerging problem across the globe and therefore, policy makers newlineand planners have started promoting the concept of wastewater reuse for sustainable newlineplanning and conserving water resources. Reuse of water can contribute significantly newlinefor making water available in future. Reuse of treated wastewater from centralized newlinetreatment facility may turn to be an expensive option but reuse from decentralised newlinetreatment facility can prove to be cost effective. The separation of greywater (GW) newlineand blackwater (BW) and, after treatment, reusing the GW which is only slightly or not newlineat all contaminated with excreta, it is primarily done by segregating GW and BW from newlinethe domestic wastewater and then it is treated individually. The light strength domestic newlinewastewater from laundry, shower, washbasin etc., is defined as GW while the high newlinestrength flushing wastewater is considered as BW. Uninterrupted annual supply in newlinehigher volume (60-70% of domestic wastewater) and ease of its treatment, makes GW newlinea preferred resource compared to other alternatives. GW recycling can be considered newlineas a sustainable pathway in which freshwater resource is not only conserved, but newlinewastewater generation is also minimized... newline |
