Abstract: | The rapid growth of the internet and advancement in hardware and software leads to many new inventions; Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is among them. WSN utilizes the flexibility provided by wireless communication, along with the strong sensing capabilities of sensor nodes. WSN is featured with the inherent limitation of energy, and the frequent communication between the sensor nodes (SNs) results in a huge energy drain. These smart devices can monitor their nearby environment and send the data to the base station for information building. With recent advances in communication and technology, WSN becomes an integral component to collect the required data set with the help of many randomly deployed SNs. All the SNs are directed to operate in a lock-step manner with three steps, i.e., sensing, aggregation, and transmission. The continuous monitoring of data results in vast volumes of data, which in turn pose new challenges in the field of WSN. Several research papers have been published in the literature that encounters these limitations and suggest techniques to overcome them. There are several mechanisms to reduce energy dissipation; reducing energy for aggregation has a significant impact on the performance of WSN. Energy dissipation majorly depends upon the routing scheme, amount of data transmitted, and aggregation mechanism. There exists a need to design and develop a tool that results in minimum energy dissipation. Apart from an efficient routing mechanism, the solutions will be given to reduce the total amount of transmitted data. The proposed research work discusses various design issues concentrated upon data aggregation and tools, to reduce the overall amount of data transfer. The proposed work has adopted few schemes to remove redundant and unnecessary data forwarding. Data latency and accuracy are other essential factors apart from energy efficiency. Performing and achieving these tasks will increase a network s lifetime, and implementing energy-efficient systems increase... newline |
