Abstract: newline The present study attempts to identify the different Competency Development and newlineTalent Management practices and their impact on Employee Engagement in newlineIndian Hotel Industry. A sample of 453 respondents was collected. A 2 X 2 X 5 newlinefactorial design with equal numbers was adopted which involves two types of newlinehotel chains, that is, Indian and Foreign Hotel chain. Further the sample was newlinedrawn from two types of hotels, that is, Luxury and Budget hotels. Finally, the newlinedata was drawn from respondents of different departments of the hotels that is, newlineFood and Beverages (F and B) Production, Food and Beverages (F and B) Service, newlineFront Office, Housekeeping and Ancillary departments (Finance, Human newlineResource, Sales and Marketing, Security and Engineering). Stratified sampling newlinetechnique was used to determine hotels and departments for maintaining newlinerepresentativeness. Systematic sampling was used for collecting data from newlinemanagers working in different departments of the hotels so chosen. Upon dividing newlinethe industry into strata of Indian and Foreign hotel chains having Luxury and newlineBudget brands, two Luxury and two Budget hotels were chosen randomly using newlinefish bowl method from each hotel chain. Data was then collected from four core newlinedepartments and ancillary departments grouped together. Every third manager newlinebased on the list of employees, shared by Human Resource Department, was newlineselected from each department to fill the questionnaire. Competency Development newlinePractices questionnaire, Talent Management Practices questionnaire and newlineEmployee Engagement Scale were administered on all the respondents. Mean newlinescore comparison with norms was used to analyze the level of Competency newlineDevelopment and Talent Management practices undertaken by different hotels and newlineMultivariate Analysis of Variance was applied to identify the difference in the newlinelevel of Competency Development and Talent Management practices in different newlinetypes of hotels.
