Abstract: The most sought after technique for the synthesis of glassy materials newlineis melt quench method using a muffle furnace Microwaves can be used in the newlineprocessing of glass as in the microwave heating electromagnetic waves can penetrate newlinethrough the material get absorbed and directly convert to heat energy The processing newlineof materials by microwave synthesis offer several advantages over conventional heating newlinemethod, such as energy savings improved product yield unique microstructure and newlineproperties, lesser processing time synthesis of new materials and reduction in overall newlinemanufacturing cost Hence environmental friendly microwave heating process is newlineadopted for synthesizing glasses But one of the requirements for synthesis of glass by newlinemicrowave heating method is the presence of a microwave susceptor Therefore while newlineselecting the chemical composition care is taken to select a modifier or former which is newlinea microwave susceptor newlineDuring the last decade doped materials have turned out to be an interesting and technologically relevant subject of research because of their unique electrical optical newlineproperties and potential applications Variation of concentration of alkali and transition newlinemetal oxide in the glass system leads to a transition from ionic to electronic through newlinemixed ionic electronic conduction The dc and ac electrical conductivity analysis and newlinetheir measurements on ion conducting glasses are also found to be a field of major newlineinterest Though a number of investigations have been carried out on these aspects newlinesufficient information on sodium boro vanadate glass system with higher and lower newlinevanadium contents are not available Therefore sodium boro vanadate glass system in newlinea wide range of composition by microwave heating method is taken up for the present newlinestudy Similarly studies on sodium phospho zinc glass system independently doped newlinewith various concentrations of manganese and neodymium have also been taken up to newlineget a clear picture of dopant induced effects on optical absorption and newlinephotoluminescence newline newline
