Abstract: | The work embodied in the thesis entitled Synthesis, Characterization and Biological newlineEvaluation of Pyrazole and Pyridine Based Compounds and Their Transition Metal newlineComplexes was initiated to pursue metal-organic compounds derived from pyrazole and newlinepyridine based heterocyclic units. Heterocyclic ligands and their metal complexes have a newlinewide range of applications in chemistry, biology and pharmaceutical science. The primary newlinefocus has been given to synthesize the 3d metal complexes with functionalized pyrazole and newlinepyridine anchored ligands which are relevant to the biological applications and catalysis. newlineGenerally, the subtle metal-ligand interactions play enormous roles in determining complex newlinestructure-activity relationships and the understanding of these types of interactions is crucial newlinefor eventual property control. In the present study, the various biological and catalytic newlineproperties are explored with novel pyrazole/pyridine-based compounds. Efforts have been newlinemade to synthesize the new N-donor pyrazole/pyridine-based ligands and their metal newlinecomplexes. The characterization of these compounds has been done using X-ray newlinecrystallography, other spectroscopic techniques, cyclic voltammetry, and other newlinephysicochemical techniques. newlineThis thesis consists of five chapters on the studies of complexes of copper (II), cobalt (II/III), newlinemanganese (II) and zinc (II) with pyrazole/pyridine-based ligands and their biological, newlinecatalytic, sensing activities. newlineA brief survey of known chemistry and application of different N-donor pyrazole/pyridinebased newlineligands are outlined in introductory Chapter 1A along with the purpose of the present newlineinvestigation. The present introduction containsi) newlineGeneral chemistry of pyrazole and applications of some biologically potent pyrazole newlinederivatives newlineii) General chemistry of pyridine and applications of some biologically potent pyridine newlinederivatives newlineiii) Anticancer and antimicrobial activity of pyrazole derivatives and their metal complexes newlineiv) Anticancer and antimicrobial activity of pyridine derivatives an |
