Abstract: | The work furnished in this thesis entitled Studies on Synthesis, Characterization and Catalytic Application of Nickel, Copper and Zinc Complexes of Redox Non-Innocent Azo-Aromatic Ligands is inspired from nature and emanated from the aim to design various earth abundant, environmentally benign and cheap 3d transition metal based catalysts. The designed catalysts carried out the chemical conversions by mimicking the activity of various enzymes found in living systems. A number of medicinally important organic molecules were synthesized employing the catalysts. newlineIn this dissertation, a few Nickel, Copper and Zinc based complexes featuring redox active azo-aromatic ligands were synthesized. Their coordination chemistry was explored in the light of structure bonding correlation and establishing their electronic structure using different spectroscopic techniques and theoretical studies. Beyond mere characterization, some of the synthesized complexes were successfully used as catalyst to carry out the synthesis of some pharmaceutically important orgnic molecules. newlineThe present work was initiated on January 2016 at Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, under the supervision of Dr. Nanda Dulal Paul. newlineIn keeping with the general practice of reporting scientific observation, due acknowledge have been made whenever the work described was based on the findings of other investigators. I must take the responsibility of any unintentional oversights and errors, which might have crept in, in spite of all precautions. newline |
