Abstract: | The primary aim of this study is to analyze special education programmes, facilities offered, analyzing policy documents, orders and circulars of Government of Kerala associated with it and finally suggest certain measures of improvement for the students with intellectual disabilities in the Buds Special Schools of Kerala. For the development of a country, increased emphasis on human resource development is an important aspect for enrichment of both the society and the human life. Only good education can play a vital role in it. Children who deviate significantly from the normal ones (disabled ones), need special care and education according to their abilities that are customized to their unique needs, at no cost to their parents. For years, systematic efforts were taken to provide opportunities to them, bring economic and social development policies, through legislative measures as well as social welfare activities and for the establishment of their educational institutions in India. At the same time, we need a concrete policy inculcating their required skills, knowledge and professional ethics for their training to make them employable. To bridge the gap between the required state of learning outcomes and the current ones, and for necessating to implement highest quality, equity and integrity into the education system with equitable access for all, regardless of background. many new initiatives were launched by the Government of India. newline |
