Abstract

There was a trend in the global fuel prices and thus the relative cost of operation was higher significantly. There are other concerns too for the shoppers as the competitions are rapidly increasing and the overall ship maintenance cost is also drastically changing. This study was designed and executed to deal with the important issues in overall ship efficiency with focused on newlinespeed reduction and optimization. newlineSystematically the review of literature is planned and analyzed from both National and International research pursuits. 87 number of Journal article publication, dissertations, books, magazine publications, reports, surveys and working papers of research precisely focused on research topic was reviewed, analyzed and referred to enhance the outcome of this research. newlineThere was a significant gap of analyzing the merchant vessel s opinion regarding the super slow streaming and its impact on the merchant vessels performance especially in total fuel consumption and with others related issues. newlineThus, current study was designed primarily with to collect the voice of merchant vessels captain on these issues and then to suggest a mode. This research study was initiated with one central objective to understand the speed as one variable to optimize the total fuel consumption. There is newlinesignificant association of total fuel consumption with the overall shipping cost of merchant vessels. newlineThus this study was designed in such a way that can explored the overall available mechanism for this. The central research question for this study was What is the significant impact of super slow steaming on operational performance of merchant vessels?
