Abstract: newline The preceding chapters have highlighted the growing relationship between power, truth, and subjectivity with the advent of modernity the constructs of social domination have been explored in Jonathan swift Gulliver travels and Voltaire Candide, Charles dickens hard times and Elizabeth Gaskell north and south ,Aldous Huxley brave new world and jean Rhys wide Sargasso sea rationality which was articulated most lucidly during the enlightenment as a savior of mankind subsequently faced severe criticism on various fronts In light of theories of postmodernist thinker Michel Foucault and the textual analysis of a few modern works of literature it can be clearly stated that rationalization has led to subjugation of individuals by enforcing various discourses and institutions.
