Abstract: | The digital revolution, internet revolution, ICT applications in Libraries and newlineInformation Centers and e-publishing trends have made changing demographics and newlineimpact over all the sectors of business including knowledge society and LIS. Users are newlinechanging patterns and their expectations which are changing due to use various newlinetechnologies. The strategic plan of ALA is to facilitate headship in the conversion of newlinevariousservices of librariesinto the current vibrant and progressiveworldwide technical newlineinformation atmosphere. To facilitate various services to the changing requirements of newlinetheir clients are the responsibilities of the libraries and to fulfill these responsibilities, newlinethe libraries are to be modernizing themselves. ALA is facilitating opportunities to hold newlineup the present advancement in the libraries, contributes to pioneering ideas and newlineexercises to acquire guidance for the librarianship and keep library professionals to newlinesupport demands of library users from libraries. newlineDue to technological applications libraries are entering in to new activities, like shift newlinetowards e- journals and digital books, archival materials and manuscripts, databases in newlineuse, digitization of rare books and collections etc. Technologies are advancing regularly newlineand librarians are also adapting them in the profession to manage the information newlineexplosion. Uses of internet, web tools,social media, etc. are used more in libraries. newlineThe libraries have accepted the digital technology and by the employees enthusiastically newlineto acceptnew ones, including new softwares or other kinds of equipment that provides newlineinnovative techniques for libraries. Social media, web technology is now used (Blogs newlineand wikis) to move forward and interacting towards a large population beyond the newlinelibrary. (Michalak, 2012). newline |
