Title: Synthesis and Characterization of Zn1MxFe2O4 0 x 0 5 where M Mn2 Cu2 and Mg2 Spinel Nanoparticles for Biodiesel Production from Waste Cooking Oil

Abstract: Nanostructured Zn1 xMxFe2O4 (0 _ x _ 0.5) [M = Mn2+, Cu2+ and Mg2+] magnetic newlinespinel ferrites were synthesized by microwave combustion method using L-arginine newlineas a fuel. The main aim of the present work in to study, biodiesel production from newlinewaste cooking oil. The synthesized magnetic spinel samples were characterized for newlinestructural properties by X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrational stretching frequency by newlineFourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), morphological studies by high resolution newlinescanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM), elemental analysis by energy dispersive newlineX-ray analysis (EDX), optical properties by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) newlineand magnetic properties by vibrational sample magnetometry (VSM), respectively. The newlinebiodiesel production from waste cooking oil with magnetic spinel nanoparticles were newlineenrouted by transesterification method. The transesterification reactions were optimized newlineto achieve a maximum biodiesel yield by varying the reaction conditions like, reaction newlinetemperature, reaction time, MeOH:WCO molar ratio and catalyst weight respectively. newlineThe composition and formation of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) were confirmed using newlineGas chromatography-Mass spectroscopy. Based on the results from instrumental newlinecharacterization of magnetic spinel ferrites and the transesterification process, a mechanism newlinefor the biodiesel production is proposed. newline
