Abstract: Putrescine (Put) and arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) ameliorated the detrimental effects of salinity in both the genotypes, more in Pusa 2001 than Pusa 991. The beneficial effects of AM inoculation were relatively more than Put priming, as endogenous Put was higher in AM plants as compared to Put primed ones. Moreover, Put priming facilitated mycorrhizal symbiosis and enhanced the colonization ability of pigeonpea plants. Therefore, combined treatment of these amendments (+Put+AM) complemented each other and provided superior assistance in terms of improved growth, symbiotic performance, nutrient status, reduced Na+ uptake and ultimately enhanced the reproductive potential of both salt stressed pigeonpea genotypes. newline
