Abstract: | India is one of the five fastest growing economies in the world and is seventh largest in terms of the nominal GDP. It is only trillion dollar economy in the top five developing nations to watch for in the developing nations in the global front Prablenn Bajpai, (2019); Surveys (2017). The world is of the opinion that Indian economy has seen progressive path post 1990 s economic liberalization, one of the major contributor in this progressive development path is, the contribution of manufacturing industry. Indian manufacturing Industry has traditionally played a pivotal role in the nation development; it is where we can see major contributions in the form of the Rand D innovations, idea generation etc. Indian manufacturing sector currently expected to contribute roughly 17 % towards Gross Domestic productivity (GDP) of the nation and offers employability to 12% of the pollution CII port (2014). Recent studies in the manufacturing sector revealed that, every job created in the manufacturing has a multiplier effect in creating 2-3 jobs in the service sectors. Small and Medium enterprises play a vital role in the Indian manufacturing sector and are acting as backbone or bulwark which absorb the global adversities. With around 63.4 million units operating throughout the geographical region of the nation, it is estimated that SMEs contribute around 6.11% of the manufacturing GDP, and 33.4% of India s manufacturing output. SMEs are frontrunners in employment generation, they are considered next to agricultural sector in terms of employability. The sector is expected to provide an employment to around 120 million people in India (CII website), in addition the sector is expected to contribute about 45% of overall exports. But on the flipside of this, they are the major contributors to industrial pollution in India as they contribute half of the all the outdoor air pollution, Prasanta Day and Sandhan Ghosh (2015), Kajol, Zahir Shaikh and Kunal Shankar (2021), as per the working group report on the effectively integrating |
