Abstract: | Image security is vital and essential in modern communication. Wide range of newlineapplications such as telemedicine, confidential military services and personal newlinecommunication includes transfer of digital images such as personal photographs, newlinesatellite images or any such multimedia data. As communication is primarily through newlineinternet, security of data as well as image has a crucial role. With increase in newlinecybercrimes, it is not only sufficient to provide only network security measures but newlinedata also need to be protected. It is not reliable to transfer images as such, as there is newlinehigh possibility for cyber-attacks such as image forgery. Since it is highly important newlineto keep personal data safe from unwanted access, proper measures must be taken to newlineguarantee security of images during communication. Image transmission is highly newlinechallenging with their large size and different storage formats. Time efficient and cost newlineeffective techniques must be used to protect images from unsanctioned access. newlineSecurity incorporates confidentiality, integrity and availability of data as well as newlineimages during its transmission from a sender to the receiver. Encryption satisfies most newlineof the challenges of keeping the images secure during communication through an newlineinsecure medium by enhancing security of images by scrambling the content. Encryption of images makes them difficult to be accessed by unauthorized people. newlineHowever large size and different storage formats of images are some of the challenges newlinein image encryption. Many of the text encryption algorithms are not appropriate for newlineimage encryption since they may take high execution time due to huge size of the newlineimages. newline |
