Abstract: | A fit body is an asset to any game. The present era stresses upon sports and games involving high skill and expertise. Super performances not only depends upon skill and expertise but also requires a high degree of physical fitness of the players. Thus, fitness is the key factor and base of the super performances.To determine whether the specific weight training package would have better effect than the traditional method of training programme on the improvement of selected general motor ability variables of football players at the end of the 4th week, 8th week and 12th week. To determine whether the specific weight training package programme improves the Playing Ability of football Players at the end of the 4th week, 8th week and 12th week. This study was delimited to 120 (men) football player within the age group of 21 to 28 years divided equally to form Control and Experimental Groups (30 subjects each). A, B, C Groups were Experimental Groups and D was Control Group. This study was also confined to the pre-season period of 12 weeks of training (specific weight training packages). Further, the study was delimited to the General motor ability variables of Speed, Explosive power, Agility, Muscular Strength and Cardiovascular Endurance and McDonald Soccer test for measuring football playing Ability. The results of the study coincided with the general conception that weight training exercises improve explosive strength, speed and agility along with the endurance of the players in a progressive manner. The results pertaining to football playing ability, measured as Mc Donald soccer test also showed substantial improvement of subjects under present study, which could be attributed to the combined improvement of all the variables associated with general motor ability of the trainees. newline newline |
