Sports and games as a part of physical education perhaps may be viewed as that aspect of human activity, which essentially strengthens the integration of body and mind. Recently, it is felt that apart from the purposeful use of physical activities and games as a measure of maintenance of general health, happiness and fitness for effective and efficient living, there are many psychological, sociological and personal factors that develop among participants rather develop total personality. Scientific investigations, minute observations and experience by coaches, physical education teachers and sports-oriented persons in the allied fields have brought to light a variety of psychological, physiological, sociological and other factors which are found to be the outcome of participation in physical activities among sports persons. It could also be deduced from available and recorded literature that sports activities have significant effect on paving away sportsman s sublimating anti-social tendencies and inferiority complexes and developing healthy attitudes, personality adjustment and other personal characteristics.
