Abstract: | The objective of the present study was to assess seasonal variations Diversity of Insects along with physico-chemical parameter of Narmada River at Hoshangabad,M.P.Temperature, pH, TDS, DO levels were etc. analysed at a depth of 2 meter. newlineAir and water temperature varied between 21oC to 40oC and 21oC to 32oC respectively. pH was found between 7.5 to 8.4; TDS between 56 ppm to 125ppm; DO between 2.4 to 8.2 mgl-1, Total alkalinity was found in between 139 mgl-1 to 66.2 mgl-1. The highest air temperature (40oC) and water temperature (32oC) were recorded at Site-4 during summer. pH was highest (8.4) at Site-3 in summer; TDS (125 ppm) at site-1 during winter; turbidity was highest (35.6NTU) at Site-1 during monsoon and highest DO (8.2 mgl-1) was recorded at Site-2 in Monsoon, other hand Lepidoptera and Odonates observed during the given period. The observed species five families of the order Lepidoptera and four family of the order Odonates respectively. Species abundance was highest in monsoon and early winter. Majority of the Lepidoptera and Odonates species also showed abundance peaks in these seasons.Nymphalidae,19species, Lycaenidae 10 species, Pieridae 11 species Hesperriidae 03 species and Paplionidae 03 Species and Odonates four families Libelluidae 12 Species, Coenagrionidae 3 species, Gomphidae, 1 and Platycnemidae 1 species were recorded during the study period. The study concludes that due to anthropogenic activities and industrial influence, the ecology of Narmada River is degrading rapidly newline |
