Abstract: | Advances in technology over the recent past has led to the development of gaze estimation techniques. Eye gaze tracking represents person s focus of attention at a particular point or position. Eye gaze tracking can be used in understanding human cognitive states, marketing research and in eye disease diagnostics. Eye gaze tracking is in a state of rapid development and technological progress with the advancement of technology, and is moving marketing research and user experience techniques in new directions. High cost of commercial eye gaze trackers is one of the major bottlenecks causing hindrance in adoption of eye trackers by the masses. Automatic monitoring of eye movements without requiring commercial and costly eye tracking hardware device can support a variety of human-computer interaction applications and user experience research. To support this, different approaches and methods have been studied in recent years by the research community. However, there are only a few camera-based systems that have been discussed in the literature are both robust and real time. This study focuses on capturing real time pupillometric response that can handle lighting changes, does not require person-dependent calibration, handles head pose variations, and can be used with wide range of screen distances. The eye fixations are captured using more comfortable and low cost camera available in almost every device, as opposed to gaze tracking techniques requiring specific equipment or hardware for example, infrared high-resolution camera and expensive gaze tracking device. newline |
