Abstract: The research investigation has many potential applications in decolorization of dyes, paper and pulp industries and bioremediation of environmental pollutants etc. A laccase producing bacterial strain was isolated from green sites of Chandigarh. The laccase was purified and characterized for various properties. Improvement in catalytic efficiency in decolorization and detoxification of synthetic dyes was observed after immobilization of purified laccase. Immobilized laccase based Packed Bed Reactor System (PBRS) is found to be an effective method for treatment of textile based waste water which can be applied at industrial level also. newline
