Abstract: | About Northern Coalfields Limited Singrauli newlineIt is a Coal India Subsidiary which was separated from CCL , a subsidiary of public sector unit Coal India Ltd in 1985. It is a government of India undertaking. It has been awarded a mini ratna company status by government of India. In 2018-19 NCL accounted for 14% of total coal production by India. It is headquartered in Singrauli , Madhya Pradesh.Singrauli is connected with Varanasi and other parts of the country via road. It is connected to Delhi via, nearest railway station being Renukoot. newlineThe Singrauli coal basin is spread in the area of more than 2202 square kilometers. The coalfield is divided in two basins Moher subbasin and Singrauli main basin. Moher sub basin is smaller in size with an area of 312 square kilometers. Singrauli main basin is greater in size with an area of 1890 square kilometers. Despite of its larger area, the Singrauli main basin is underutilized and major activities of coal mining are focused to Moher subbasin. Moher subbasin is spread over Singrauli (M.P) and a small area of it is in Sonbhadra district. newlineThe present study is focused on the CSR practices of Northern Coalfields Ltd in general and with specific reference to Sonabhadra district of U.P. NCL is practicing CSR in almost all areas of social intervention ranging from Drinking Water, Education, Healthcare, Promotion of sports, Rural Development, Sanitation, Skill development, Water conservation and Women Empowerment. newline |
