dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT newlineThe major concern for any organizational elections is the authenticity and accessibility of the electoral roll. The electoral roll requires data validation when data is added or modified, and requires effective data selection when data retrieval operations are needed. It is a continuous process that requires constant moderation by the bureaucrats and public alike. Blockchain powered systems have proven to be effective in terms of security due to their inherent properties like non-mutability, multi-level verification, cryptography, and strict data updation rules. But blockchain systems have limited retrieval performance due to large chains of data, which slows down the read-cycles, thereby making the system ineffective for big data applications. Securing electoral roll management (ERM) systems is a multi-faceted challenge. newlineIt involves designing security algorithms that should work effectively on a distributed network. This effectiveness must be in terms of low delay requirement, low energy requirement, high throughput requirement and high packet delivery ratio requirement. All these requirements are very difficult to achieve due to the fact that the number of users enrolling in ERM are very diverse. For instance, some people from a different regional state might have language specific data, while some from other states might have income specific data, while others might have geography specific data. It can be stated that, therefore, fair and open elections are highly required and relevant in developed nations. Identification of electors must be performed very reliably in order to ensure the maximum number of eligible voters are enrolled. There are processes where legislatures establish electoral roll, as well as maintain the right roll of electors and count of votes. newlineThe whole procedure must be conducted with the highest precision in order to ensure integrity and justice in all the elections.
