dc.description.abstractnewline INTRODUCTION : The tympanic cavity contains the Malleus, Incus and Stapes which have a fundamental role in transmission of sound, any disease of these ossicles cause immobilization and dislocation of the chain leading to impaired hearing. newlineAIMS : To Study Morphometrical details and Morphological features and variations of ear ossicles with computed tomography to establish data and provide medical application to otologist. newlineMATERIALS AND METHODS : The study was performed bilaterally on 114 subjects (61 males and 53 females) in Dr. D.Y. Patil, School of Medicine and Hospital, Nerul, CT scan images are studied for Morphological observations and Morphometric parameters of Ear ossicles. newlineRESULTS : newlineIn Morphometry of Malleus, mean total length was 5.50mm 8.40mm with 6.97%±0.59SD, mean length of manubrium was 3.10mm 5.30mm with 4.24±0.40SD, width of head was 1.20mm 2.40mm with 1.90%±0.22SD. newlineIn Morphometry of Incus, mean length was 3.80mm 6.40mm with 5.31%±0.55SD, mean total width was 3.20mm 5.20mm with 4.30±0.30SD, mean total length of long process was 2.10mm 4.90mm with 3.28%±0.51SD. newlineIn Morphometry of Stapes, mean total height was 3.10mm 5.20mm with 4.43%±0.34SD, mean total length of footplate was 1.20mm 2.70mm with 2.02±0.24SD, mean total width of footplate was 0.90mm 2.00 mm with 1.40±0.21SD. newlineIn Morphology, newlineMalleus showed globular head in 36.06% males and 38.67% females, curved process in 45.08% males and 44.33% females. newlineIncus showed short and thick long process in 17.21% males and 12.26% females. newlineStapes showed short neck in 16.39% males and 15.09% females, long neck in 18.03% males and 14.15% females, symmetrical crura in 15.57% males and 15.09% females, horseshoe shaped obturator foramen in 62.29% males and 68.86% females. newlineCONCLUSION : The study helps in establishment of ossicular parameters and census for Indian population. It acts as a good preoperative modality for Otologists for ossicular grafting and implants during reconstructive surgeries. newlineKEY WORDS : Ear ossicles, Malleus, Incus, Stape
