Abstract: The present investigation entitled Genetic diversity and stability studies in garlic (Allium newlinesativum L.) was carried out at Vegetable Research Farm of C. S. Azad University of Agriculture and newlineTechnology, Kalyanpur, Kanpur. The crop was grown under different dates of sowing i.e. E-I (2018-19), EII newline(2019-20) and E-III (2019-20). Thirty-four genotypes of garlic were planted in randomized complete newlineblock design (RCBD) with three replications. The genotypes were planted manually in flat beds of 3 x 2 m. newlinesize at a spacing of 15 x 10 cm. Analysis of variance revealed highly significant mean squares due to newlinegenotype for all the characters in all the environments as well as in pooled analysis indicating substantial newlinegenetic variability among the genotypes. Mean performance of genotypes pooled over different newlineenvironments indicating superiority of KLG-4 (98.08 q/h), KLG-10 (86.82 q/h), KLG-12 (84.03 q/h) and G- newline50 (83.97 q/h) for marketable bulb yield as well as total bulb yield (q/ha). Morphological traits of quality newlinenature viz., foliage colour, leaf waxiness, bulb shape, bulb colour and clove skin colour were visually newlineobserved, which indicated the presence of a sufficient amount of variability except bulb and clove skin newlinecolour. newlineThe present study revealed that PCV was greater than the corresponding GCV for all the traits in all newlinethe environments as well as over pooled analysis. Pooled analysis at phenotypic and genotypic levels newlineexhibited a strong positive correlation of marketable bulb yield with total bulb yield, clove width and dry newlinematter content. Path coefficient analysis revealed that though total bulb yield, equatorial diameter, average newlineweight of bulb and plant height possessed positive genotypic correlation with marketable bulb yield. newlineCharacters like plant height, average weight of bulb and average weight of cloves showed high heritability newlinewith the high genetic advance in the pooled analysis. Negligible differences between GCV and PCV and newlinehigh heritability coupled with high genetic advance confirmed
