Abstract: Lymphatic filariasis infects more than 120 million people and 947 newlinemillion people are suffering from risk of infection worldwide especially in Asian newlinesubcontinent and Africa. The currently available drugs, diethylcarbamazine newlinealbendazole and ivermectin are principally microfilaricidal with little or newlinenegligible effect on adult filarial parasites. Therefore there is urgent need of a newlinedrug which could be effective against adult parasite. The presently available newlinediagnostic techniques are not efficient enough for detection of microfilarial newlineinfection at early stage. In addition, better diagnostic and control strategies newlinegave new ray of hope for elimination of this morbid disease. Purification, newlinebiochemical and chemotherapeutic characterization of proteins that may be a newlinepotential target for adulticides are, therefore, a prerequisite. newline
