Abstract: Ber (Ziziphus mauritiana Lamk.) is also known as Chinese date, Indian plum, Regi pandu, Indian jujube and Masau. It is an ancient and common fruit of tropical and sub-tropical parts of India and belong to the family Rhamnaceae. Nearly 52,000 hectares, area is under cultivation of Ber which lies mostly in north Indian plains, central India and Peno-suliar India. The total production of ber fruits has been estimated to be 639,000 MT with the is 639,000 MT and the productivity of 12.28 MT/ha, (NHB, 2018- 2019). It is a very hardy fruit tree and performs well under adverse climatic and soil conditions. Deep sandy to sandy loams are best suited for its cultivation. newline
