Abstract: Aim: newlineTo elucidate the role of Serum Vasopressin, Serum Cortisol, Serum newlineEstradiol and Serum Estrone in the pathogenesis of OLP newlineMaterials and methods: newlineA case control study was conducted among n = 114 patients who reported newlineto the outpatient department of Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals. newlineThe patients were divided into 2 groups. Groups included in the newlinestudy, mainly Group I: OLP patients (n = 57) and Group II: Healthy control newline(n = 57).Blood samples were obtained from the study subjects by vein newlinepuncture of the antecubital fossa using a 5ml syringe (Nipro) of 22 gauge newlineand then transferred to a serum tube (BD Vacutainer). The blood was newlinecentrifuged and serum and isolated and transferred to a 2 ml eppendorf newlineand stored at -20°C. The evaluation of social parameters and hormonal newlineparameters was done by expression of serum vasopressin, serum cortisol, newlineserum estradiol and serum estrone analysis through ELISA in all the blood newlinesamples of the case and control group. Self-designed questionnaire was newlinegiven to the patients to analyze their menstrual cycle and symptoms newlineassociated with it. The obtained values were statistically evaluated using newlineIndependent t test and One way anova. newlineResults: newlineWe observed that 36.84% of the patient belonged to age group 36-45 newlineyears, 30.70% of the patients belonged to age group 46-55 years, newline19.30% of the patients belonged to age group of above 55 years, 13.16% newlineof the patients belonged to age group of below 35 years. Serum newlineVasopressin, Serum Estradiol and Serum Estrone levels in patients with newlineOLP and healthy controls was statistically significant (plt0.050). Serum newlineCortisol levels in patients with OLP and healthy controls was not statistically newlinesignificant. The correlation of Serum vasopressin with hormonal newlineparameters of symptoms experienced before menstruation was significant newlinein both case and control groups. The correlation of Serum Estrone with newlinehormonal parameters of symptoms experienced before menstruation was newlinesignificant in control group. newline
