dc.description.abstractThe traditional systems of medicines in India constitutes with its different newlinecomponents like Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani. The development of these traditional newlinesystems of medicines with the perspectives of safety, efficacy and quality will help newlinenot only to preserve the traditional heritage but also to rationalize the use of natural newlineproducts in healthcare. Classical Ayurveda prescribes herbs, metals and minerals or in newlinecombination with herbs as herbomineral formulations. newline Single and multi drug herbal formulations are used according to their Rasa, newlineGuna, Virya Vipaka, Prabhava etc since ancient period. After that minerals were used newlineto add in these herbal formulations which are known as herbo-mineral drugs. newlineLikewise, these mineral drugs were used as main drug along with other minerals newlineknown as Rasakalpa. Some of these minerals which are considered as heavy metals newlineare known to have some toxic effects. newline
