Abstract: | In recent years Mobile Ad hoc Networks MANETs are newlinegaining popularity in the research area It is a wireless self organizing and newlinerapidly deployable network The nodes in the network communicate with each newlineother without the aid of any centralised administrator Each node acts both as a newlinehost and a router Due to its dynamic characteristics the topology of the newlinenetwork keeps on changing It makes routing as a challenging task in MANET newlinedue to mobility bandwidth limitation and power constraints Hence it is newlineessence to design an effective and efficient routing protocol that can adapt to newlinetheir frequent changes in the topology of the network The task of routing newlineprotocol is to detect and maintain optimal and reliable routes between the newlinesource and destination nodes in these dynamic networks newlineThe primary objective of the routing protocol is to maximize newlinenetwork throughput to minimize energy consumption, overhead and delay newlineThe network throughput is usually measured in terms of packet delivery ratio newlineRouting protocols for MANET is classified into two main types newlineProactive and Reactive Reactive or On demand routing protocols are better newlinesuited for mobile networks This protocol make use of route caches to avoid newlinethe overhead latency of initiating a route discovery for each packet and newlinemanage the mobility in a more efficient manner newline newline |
