Abstract: | The present thesis deals with quotWAVES IN FLEXOELECTRIC MICROSTRUCTURED ELASTIC SOLIDS quot. The introduction and review of the literature are covered in Chapter 1. In chapter 2, the propagation of plane waves in flexoelectric microstructured solids is studied. The micro-inertial, strain gradient elastic, and flexoelectric effects on speeds of quasi-P and quasi-SV are shown graphically. In chapter 3, the reflection phenomenon of the plane harmonic waves in a dielectric half-space model is studied. The coefficient of reflection and energy ratios of reflected waves are analytically obtained for the two incident plane waves. The reflection coefficient and the energy shares are illustrated graphically to show the influences of wavenumber, length parameters, and flex coupling coefficients. Chapter 4 deals with the reflection and transmission phenomena of plane waves striking at an interface between two dissimilar half-spaces by considering the effects of flexoelectricity, micro-inertia, and strain gradient elasticity. Effects of flexoelectricity, micro-inertia, and strain gradients on the amplitude and energy ratios of two reflected and two transmitted waves are illustrated graphically. In chapter 5, the Reflection of plane wave propagation at the free boundary of flexoelectric microstructured elastic solid is explored. The dependence of wave speed, amplitude ratios, and energy ratios on the static and dynamic flexoelectricity, micro-inertia, and strain gradient elasticity is illustrated graphically. In chapter 6, Love wave propagation in a non-local elastic layer deposited on a flexoelectric substrate is investigated. The dispersion equations for electrical open and electrical shorted cases are obtained. The effects of non-locality and flexoelectricity on phase speed are shown graphically. newline |
