Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineBackground newlineAnchorage demand in orthodontics is often the most attention demanding newlinedecision the orthodontist has to make. Malocclusion that requires the retraction newlineof anterior teeth requires the highest anchorage. Using only the molar teeth as newlineanchorage very often efficient retraction can not be achieved. So in order to newlinemeet the demands of anchorage and to not tax the molars , in recent times newlinemini-implant assisted anchorage is being used to bring about complete newlineretraction of the anterior teeth . Infrazygomatic crest mini-implants are placed in newlinethe infrazygomatic crest at the level distal to the 1 newlinest molar and the inter-radicular newlinemini-implants in between the tooth roots of 2 newlinend premolar and 1 newlinest molar . newlineAim newlineThe aim of this study is to compare the efficiency and type of tooth newlinemovement when using interradicular mini-implant and infrazygomatic crest newlinemini-implant for the purpose of en masse anterior retraction in patients newlineundergoing orthodontic treatment. newline10 OF 150 newlineMaterials and Methods newlineThe study was designed as a prospective randomised controlled trial newlinewhich included 22 patients . The patients were divided into two groups. In newlinegroup 1 infrazygomatic crest mini-implants were used for en masse retraction of newlinethe maxillary anterior teeth and in group 2 inter-radicular mini-implants were newlineused for en masse retraction of the maxillary anterior teeth. Both the newlinemini-implants used in this study were acquired from Favanchor®. The type of newlinethe tooth movement was assessed by using lateral cephalogram that was taken newlineat the start of retraction and after the space closure was completed. Paired T newlinetest was done to compare the treatment effects of en masse anterior retraction newlinedone with interradicular mini-implant and infrazygomatic mini-implant. Unpaired newlineT test was done to compare the treatment effects between the two intervention newlinegroups. newlineResults newlineIn the group where infrazygomatic crest mini-implant was used for en newlinemasse anterior retraction, for the skeletal changes and dental changes
