Abstract: newline India has the highest population level next to china. The average land holding is below 5 newlineacres in contrast to other sugar producing and exporting countries in the world. The per capita newlineconsumptions of the sugar were only 12.7 kgs during 1990-91. It has increased to 16 kgs during newline1999-2000 and 19.09 kgs during 2008 -2009. It may be mentioned that in the Indian Sugar newlineIndustry two competing sectors are in existence, one is the authorized sector and the other in the newlineunauthorized sector. The authorized sector consists of vacuum for white sugar factories and newlineunauthorized sector consist of Gur and Khandasri units. The more serious and rerunning problem newlineconfronting the original sector is said to be large scale divisions of the unauthorized sector
