Abstract: | newline Recently there is a tremendous expansion of wireless services, where newlineantennas play a significant role in the communication link. Single-antenna newlinestructures were employed with specified conditions such as bandwidth, newlinefrequency, radiation pattern etc. can become inefficient if there is change in newlinespecified requirements. The current application scenario includes adaptability newline(flexibility) and versatility as the key factors in antenna design. For this newlinepurpose, integrated with low-cost implementations and advanced simulation newlineenvironments, reconfigurable antennas can adaptively change its properties, newlinesuch as frequency and radiation pattern. Reconfigurable antennas offer the newlineadvantages of compact size, efficient use of electromagnetic spectrum, and newlinefrequency selectivity for reducing the adverse effects of co-channel newlineinterference and jamming. newlineElectrical techniques are typically used to realize reconfigurable newlineantennas such as RF micro-electrical mechanical system (MEMS), p-i-n newlinediodes, and varactors. The integration of these switches into the antenna newlinestructure has the disadvantages of complex bias circuitry, antenna size newlineincrease, utilization of cost-effective substrate, and fabrication complexity. newlineAn additional disadvantage of RF micro-electrical mechanical system newline(MEMS), p-i-n diodes, and varactors can be intermodulation issues |
