Urban transport network plays a very important role in the overall development of a newlinecity. An efficient transport network is essential for improving the quality of life within newlinecities. Because of the huge developmental cost of the transport network, effective newlineutilisation is essential. Effective utilisation can be attained only when there is proper newlineconnectivity and orientation. In many of the developing nations, urbanisation has resulted newlinein an enormous population and associated activities. This has resulted in inadequate newlinetransport facilities and related travel issues. Hence, a parameter-based evaluation of the newlinetransport network is essential to develop strategies for improving its efficiency. newlineAn exploration of the existing literature was carried out in the realm of analysis of newlinetransport network. It includes identification of the factors influencing travel, and the tools newlineand techniques for characterising the urban elements such as transport network and land newlineuse. Based on the literature review, research gaps are identified. The objectives identified newlinefor the study include analysis of the transport network and to explore the interactions newlineamong network, land use and travel. The present study proposes a framework for newlineplanning urban transport network, by identifying the influence of land use on network, newlinenetwork on land use, network on travel and again that of land use on travel. Scope of the newlinestudy is limited to develop a strategic urban development plan based on land use - newlinetransport network - travel interaction. newline
