Abstract: Steady increase in demand for power leads to renovation of present power grid infrastructure. There is a need to increase the transmission line infrastructure. Increasing the transmission line infrastructure is difficult due to environmental issues and getting right of way for constructing new transmission lines. Utilization of power grid to the core, worsen due to increasing load and loop flows caused due to congestion. These issues in the transmission lines lead to insecurity in the operation of power system. Reliability of power system is also affected due to it. newlineControlling real power flow in interconnected power system is possible by rescheduling generation, change in load demand and controlling line reactance. Solution to congestion in one line creates congestion in another transmission line. This leads to cascaded outages in the network. This problem reduces the transmission line capability and inhibits the power rerouting concept. Active power flow control on transmission lines from central control centre is an important aspect in the smart grid. The power grid consists of generators and loads connected at buses. There is a possibility of change in power system network condition because of various reasons. These changes always affect the power flow in the transmission lines. Series compensation is used to control power flow in transmission line. The change in line reactance using series capacitive compensation helps to increase the power transfer capability of the transmission line. Power flow through the transmission line should be maintained within the limits by operating the different generators connected to the network and controlling the transmission line reactance in an effective manner so that the congestion is eliminated. Controlling the line reactance with change in generation and change in demand in an appropriate manner increases the efficiency of the network. The objective of the research work is to develop the integrated control strategy for generation and line reactance control...
