dc.description.abstract | The study area lies in the Mishmi range in the eastern arm of the Eastern Himalayan newlineSyntaxis (EHS), which owes its structural complexity because of ongoing convergence in both newline~N-S and E-W directions, resulting in oblique thrusting and clockwise rotation of fault-bounded newlineblocks. Here, major Himalayan structures and lithology continue in a north to south direction newlineexcept frontal Neogene Siwalik of Sub-Himalayan range and Tethyan Himalayan Sequence of newlineHigher Himalaya. The region not only has orthogonally aligned major structures, but also sparsely newlinedistributed seismicity compared to the ~E-W trending Himalayan range. Recent seismological newlinestudy across the Mishmi range shows gently east dipping Moho beneath the range. Whereas GPS newlinestudy shows ~20 mm/yr convergence across the range which is equivalent to the rates across the newlinecentral Himalaya. newline | |
