Abstract: With the increasing threats and challenges, due to climatic change newlineand depletion of non - renewable energy sources, deployment of renewable newlineenergy (RE) sources in electric power systems has elevated. Though, RE is newlinean alternative solution to the stated issue, the contribution limits to 27.3% in newlineglobal electricity production pertaining to its stochastic behaviour. This newlinetransition towards sustainable electric power system creates serious newlinechallenges towards the reliable and safe operation of such systems. Largescale newlineenergy storage systems are the key enablers for integrating increasing newlinepenetration of RE sources by adding flexibility to the electric power systems. newlineOn the other hand, integration of RE technologies using local RE resources newlinecould help ensure a secure energy supply and thus pave the way for newlinecompatible energy storage system. newlineAmongst all the other RE sources, the global wind power market newlinehas quadrupled over the past decade and has established as one of the most newlinecompetitive and resilient power sources across the world with 743 GW newlineinstalled capacity. The major issues faced by wind energy sources are their newlineintermittency and mismatch during power demands. For instance, when newlinepower demand is low during nights, wind tends to be abundant. Integration newlineof wind turbine generators to electrical grid with increased capacity factor is newlinea great challenge to the investors. Energy storage technologies play a key role newlinein allowing energy providers to provide a steady supply of electricity by newlinebalancing the fluctuations caused by wind energy. newline newline
