Abstract: newline Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC), newlineis the ninth leading cause of death worldwide and the leading cause from a single newlineinfectious agent, ranking above HIV/AIDS with a death toll of almost 1.3 million in newlineHIV negative patients. Globally the emergence of multi drug resistant TB (MDR-TB) newlineand extensively drug resistant TB (XDR-TB) has increased the concern of public newlinehealth agencies. The emergence of drug resistance has hindered the effective newlinetreatment in patients with active M. tuberculosis.
