dc.description.abstract | The study was done to assess the production of biodiesel from newlinevegetable waste using oleaginous yeast. The study was initiated with newlinecollection of vegetable waste and characterisation of vegetable waste. newlineVarious pretreatment methods were applied for vegetable waste to obtain the newlinecellulose and hemicellulose present in the waste. Mechanical pretreatment newlinewas applied for the reduction of particle size by grinding and milling. The newlinesize of the particles was analysed by particle size analyser and the size of the newlineparticle was arrived as 3.98 and#956;m newlineChemical pretreatments were carried out for getting sugar and newlineother cell materials. Acid, Alkaline, Hydrogen peroxide, ammonia and newlineultrasonication were the pretreatments done for the waste. The hydrolysates newlinewere obtained from each chemical treatment. The C/N ratio for the newlinehydrolysates were found out by TOC analyser. The maximum C/N ratio of newline14.865 was obtained for acid pretreatment method. Detoxification were newlinecarried out for the acid treated hydrolysate in order to remove the toxic newlinesubstance produced in the pretreatment. newlineThe acid pretreatment was optimised by RSM method. The newlinegoverning parameters namely solid loading (7.225g), acid concentration newline(5.8%), temperature (44.24°C) and mixing speed (100.4 rpm) were optimised newlineand the maximum monosaccharide yield was found out as 621.31mg/l. The newlinepretreatment for vegetable waste was performed at these optimised newlineconditions for further usage. newline | |
