Abstract: | Growing concern for the environmental degradation led to the world s newlineinterest in renewable energy resource since beginning of this era. Wind is newlinecommercially and operationally the most viable renewable energy resource and newlineaccordingly, emerging as one of the largest source in terms of the renewable newlineenergy sector. The major and future power demand depends on the wind energy newlinemarket with most of the wind turbine gearboxes operating with a planetary newlinegearbox. Analysis and prediction of planetary gear set defects has been a newlinerequirement in the wind power sector since years. Though a wind turbine newlinegearbox is operating with many different gear types, planetary gear stage finds newlineuse in the modern era due to its high torque-to-weight ratio. newlineThe aim of this work is to build and validate the mathematical model of newlineplanetary gear set and understand the change in dynamic response by changing newlinethe error function during gear meshing. A single stage planetary gear has been newlineimplemented for the purpose of verification of the mathematical model. The newlinebuilt mathematical model was also tested for MW sized gearbox. The MW sized newlinegearbox parameter have been fed to the model and real gear fault amplitude has newlinebeen taken as error in the model. This helps understanding the dynamic newlinebehaviour of planetary gear set during operation under defective gear condition. newlineValidation result showcase the model is sensitive enough and indicates variation newlinein operating parameters with change in error amplitude with respect to planets newlinein the planetary gear set. newlineIn continuation to the simulation study, an experimental work has been newlinecarried with the help of single stage planetary gearbox. The DC motor and DC newlinegenerator are connected at input shaft and output shaft of the planetary gearbox. newlineThe experimentation was carried out to understand and study the behaviour of newlinecurrent profile which is generated from the experimental setup. newline |
