Competition VS Co operation between ports in visakhapatnam A Game theoretical analysis

Abstract

This thesis consists of the application of game theory in the field of port newlinecompetition in Visakhapatnam district. Two cases have been analyzed. The first case newlineis the present situation in which there is a competition between the two ports which newlinecan be treated as a Bertrand game in which each port authority non-cooperatively newlinedetermines the handling charges of the vessels. The second case is one in which both newlinethe ports determines the price of handling charges of cargoes by implicitly newlinecooperating with each other. A comparison of prices, market share and profits of both newlinethe ports is estimated in both the cases i.e., in competitive and co-operative case. The newlineprofits for both the ports in co-operative scenario is more when compared to the newlinecompetitive case newline
